Art Visit to The Exchange Gallery

Art Ambassadors and the Year 10 Young Arts Leaders recently visited the new Exchange Gallery in Penzance to see the SOCIAL SYSTEMS exhibition.

Students had the opportunity to see the work of seven contemporary artists from various countries:

Christine Borland - Scotland;   Eloisa Cartonera - Argentina;    Joseph Grigely - America;    Hassan Hajjaj - Morocco;     Surasi Kusolwong - Thailand;    Regina Moller - Germany;     Super Flex - Germany

Students chilled out in the Moroccan area created by Hassan Hajjaj and talked to the Artists of the Eloise Cartonera collective about their work with the street children of Buenos Aires.  Students then worked with Georgina Kennedy from Projectbase to create their own books in the style of the work By Eloise and recoreded their thoughts on the new Portabase system.

In the afternoon students walked to the Newlyn Gallery to see a very interesting exhibition by the Scottish artist Christine Borland.  Christine spent a year with the medical students at the Peninsular medical school as they began their training to become doctors.
Redruth students took on the role of surgeons by stitching sutures on prothetic arms and legs!
